The always popular Hamptons welcomed PCF competitors for the third stop on the Charles Evan’s PCF Pro/Am Tour. On Friday evening, players and guests met at the summer home of Deana and Bob Adler, in Southampton, for the opening dinner party along with entertainment featuring Isabel Leonard and Nathan Gunn followed by world renowned mentalist, Lior Succhard.
Perfect Saturday morning weather greeted everyone for the opening rounds of the pro/am. Repeating the format from previous years, the event featured 32 pro/am teams competing at 8 private estates, located from Southampton to East Hampton. The tournament consisted of 8 groups of 4 teams, 4 final round matches resulting in 4 champions and 4 runner-up teams. After the first day of round robin play, 8 finalists emerged to compete the next day for titles, trophies and prizes! Saturday’s poolside lunch featured the traditional Palin treat at their amazing 50 acre estate in the middle of Southampton. Participants feasted on lobster rolls, seared tuna, shrimp, salmon, steak, open bar and salads.
That evening everyone collected at the Parish Art Museum, in Watermill, for a dinner party followed by a concert performed by Natalie Cole, David Foster, along with his amazing group of talented performers, and Super Diamond. An incredible evening to top off the day!
Another glorious day of weather greeted everyone for the final day of competition. All 32 teams gathered at the Shinecock Tennis Club for their final match. John Paulson and pro partner Ashley Fisher, attempting to win the title three years in a row, went through to compete against another winner from last year, Jim Coleman and French pro, Cyril Saulnier. Jim and Cyril won the match spoiling John and Ashley’s attempt at a three-peat!
In another final, first time finalist Mark Ein and Treat Huey took on last year’s winners, Arik Kislin and longtime team mate Robert Kendrick. Arik and Robert proved, yet again, that they are the team to beat in the Hamptons, winning in straight sets!
Our third final featured first time finalist Jesse Lee and Luke Jensen competing against Bill Finneran and Graydon Oliver. Of all the four finals this match proved to be the most fiercely contested match. Jesse and Luke finally won the battle which was decided in a tiebreaker after being down a match point to Bill and Graydon.
In the fourth final, Greenwich champion Bob Bales and Don Johnson played Niko Elmaleh and Alex Bury. In another closely fought contest, Bob and Don went on to defeat Niko and Alex. The victory puts Bob firmly in contention for the 2015 tour title and with a strong result in Palm Beach could be the champ!
Congratulations to the 4 victors as well as the runner-up teams. The 2015 leader board shows Joel Pashcow, Arik Kislin, Bob Bales, Marie Bernstein and Larry Leeds all contending for a tour title. The tour points determined from the results of this event can be viewed on the leader board.
On behalf of Prostate Cancer Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Charles Evans Foundation, the PCF Pro/Am players and donors, as well as all of our sponsors: Movado, JFI JETS, Babolat, Knotstandard, Herschel Bonchek and Thorlo.
